About the editor

Darrel Donaghy is the editor of Licensed Compounder. He compiles the site's records from public sources: the FDA's list of registered 503B outsourcing facilities, the Form 483s and warning letters the FDA posts, and state board of pharmacy permit data. He is not a pharmacist or a clinician, and nothing on this site is medical advice.

He checks each page against those sources, keeps the 503B register change log, and corrects errors when a reader or a source shows one.

Darrel Donaghy is a pen name. The records, the sources behind them and the corrections policy are the same either way: every claim on this site points to a public record you can check yourself.

What the work involves

  • Compiling. Each record is downloaded from the regulator that publishes it when the site is built, and shown with that regulator's date. The steps, and what happens when a download fails, are on the methodology page.
  • Checking. A sentence attributed to the FDA or a statute is stored in a ledger with its source and the date it was read. A release fails if a quotation on a page does not match that ledger word for word (how the check runs).
  • Keeping the change log. The FDA's page shows only its current list. Each new version is saved and compared with the one before, and the differences go into the 503B register changes log, dated by the FDA's list date.

What he does not do

  • Give medical advice, or say anything about a dose, a drug's effects or your health.
  • Call a pharmacy or facility safe, unsafe, good or bad. The pages show the regulator's words and dates, and explain what a Form 483 or an “Open” classification does and does not mean.
  • Let a pharmacy, facility or telehealth company pay to change, remove or feature its record. How the site makes money is on the disclosure page.

Report an error

If a record here differs from the FDA's page or a state board's lookup, the regulator's version is the correct one, and the next build will match it. If you think a record has been parsed or quoted wrongly, email hello@mlighthouse.com with the page address and the source that shows the difference. It will be checked against that source, and a confirmed error is corrected on the page concerned.
